The goal of this course is to acquire pre-literacy skills such as phonemic awareness, phonological awareness, sound to letter correspondence, blending, and segmenting of words. Before a child develops the ability to read they must first understand that letters map to speech sounds. Later children will develop the ability to sense syllables and syllable types. Here is where real reading begins! The approach in this course is multisensory. We will utilize narratives, visual cues, kinesthetic cues, and auditory cues in order to set every child up for reading.
No registration is required, but space is limited and may be unavailable to latecomers. The age range for this class is firm and we ask that participants respect it.
