Literary Café is a book chat program. The format is simple: Bring a few of your recent favorite books and tell the other members of the group what you like about them. If you don’t have a copy of the book you want to talk about, that’s okay, too. The books can be new or old, fiction or non-fiction, classic or contemporary. There is no required reading, and you will have the opportunity to learn about books recommended by other group members. Attend as many sessions as you’d like. Admission is free and all are welcome. Join us for a free eight-week writing workshop run by author Brigit Young. Workshop participants will learn what makes a story tick and how to dive into writing their own! By the end of class, children will have a completed work of writing or - in the case of much longer pieces - a plan for how to move forward with their piece. This free program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Applications will be accepted until February 5. Participation is not guaranteed, priority will be given to Cranford residents and cardholders.

Turn old t-shirts into toys for a pet! This program is best suited to children ages 8 and up, children will need to be comfortable cutting fabric and braiding it.

If you’re interested in poetry of any kind and from any era, this is the club for you!

The first half of the meeting will be a brief, informal class highlighting the history of poetry along with some of its major types and techniques. The second half will be in the style of a book club, with poems that we will discuss and interpret together as a group.

In this session, we will be focusing on odes. We'll discuss the history of the form and explore some of the key odists throughout history. Please bring one to two odes by published poets to share with the group!
